Join us for Day of Grace on Saturday, 23rd November at the Valley House, Achill Island, Co Mayo – a day dedicated to celebrating the legendary Grace O’Malley, Ireland’s fearless Pirate Queen.
What’s on:
All day: Explore an exhibition of paintings and driftwood sculptures by local artist Monica Gallagher. (Free)
10am-12pm: Create your own model of Grace in a hands-on Art Workshop with artist Cheryl Cobern Browne. (Ages 14+, €10)
12-1pm: Be captivated by an exclusive excerpt performance and conversation from the cast of Grace. The Story of a Pirate Queen – our NEW circus aerial show. (Free)
1-2pm: Lunch (available from The Valley House)
2-3pm: Enjoy Storytelling by Deborah Newbold as she recounts Dauntless – Grace O’Malley Pirate Queen and shares insights about her writing process. (€5)
3.30-5pm: Watch the Mayo premiere of the award-winning film The Cry of Granuaile. (€5)
8.30pm: Unwind with a Concert Evening featuring harpist Ursula Burns and her new album The Secret Melodies of Trees. (Suggested donation: €10)
