Introduction and policy outline

Circus250 will look after any personal information that you share with us. We will only use your personal information in the ways that you tell us are all right. We will make it easy for you to update the personal data that you have given us and tell us how you want to communicate with us. We will never release your personal data to organisations outside of Circus250 for marketing purposes.

When and how we may collect personal information about you

Circus250 may collect personal data when you interact with us. This will include: subscribing to our mailing list, attending a Circus250 event, sending us details of an event you are running for inclusion in our online listings, when you phone us, email us, use our website or social medial channels.

When you volunteer data to us in the process of one of the above interactions, we will specify the purpose for which the data will be used at the point of collection. Once we have collected your data we will only use it for the purpose specified at the point of collection. We will not use the data for a new purpose without asking your consent first.

What personal information might we collect

The personal information that we may collect includes:

  • Contact details such as name,
    email address, postal address, telephone number, social media details
  • If you are paying for something
    or we are paying you: details of your credit or debit card or your bank account
  • Information about any
    communication preferences you may have
  • The organisation you work for
  • Your interests and/or area of
    expertise – e.g. juggling, events, circus news
  • Your geographical location

We may also collect information about your interest in Circus250 and the events that we run.

How do we use your data

Circus250 may use your data to:

  • Provide information and updates about projects
  • Administer or provide access to our projects or resources
  • For research purposes to improve our own services or to report back to funders

We will ask you at the point of collecting your information how you want it to be used and will not use it for other purposes without seeking your consent unless we need to use it to respond to a request to comply with a law or other regulation.

Google Analytics

Circus250 works in partnership. At least one of our partners CircusTalk uses Google Analytics, a service provided by Google Inc. to evaluate and report on usage of our website. This is to assess how successful your online listing is and the traffic it attracts.

We only include you in our online listings once you have requested to be so and have filled in a form.

Jetpack Stats

We also use Jetpack Stats by Automattic to monitor very basic traffic trends on this website.

Any piece of data explicitly identifying a specific user is not visible to the site owner when using this feature.

Data Security

We have implemented information security policies and technical measures to protect the personal data that we have under our control. All our employees, volunteers and freelance staff who have access to data or process data are required to respect the confidentiality of personal data and abide by our data protection policy.

We will ensure that your personal data will not be disclosed to other organisations or authorities unless we are required to do so by law or other regulation. The exception to this would be if you gave us your consent to share your data with a third party.
